Day 4, June 13, 2012

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast of eggs, Canadian bacon, homemade cranberry bread, fruit, and coffee. Then headed down the road to Port Stanly on the banks of Lake Erie. Port Stanley is a quaint little town with shops and eateries of many sorts. We stopped in many of the shops, finding some unique things and some not so unique. The locals were very friendly and a little curious about us Americans. Port Stanley has two beaches, Little Beach and Big Beach. Go figure! Jim and Larry had talked the women out of bringing swimsuits, as the day had begun rather cool. However, Paula and Lynn had wished they had brought suits after seeing these two beautiful beaches. They couldn't resist dipping their feet in! When we got to Big Beach, we stopped at a great little beach bar called, G.T.'s. We were ready for some liquid refreshment, listened to some good music, and also enjoyed some sweet potato fries with chipotle sauce. This is a beautiful area with many homes very accessible to the beach. Once we arrived back in the London area, we drove through the campus of Western Ontario University, where Paula's dad had once taught. The campus is large, very picturesque, and has about 50,000 students. We made plans to eat Italian and walked the 7-8 blocks to Fellini Koolini's. We started off with some Italian wine and all ate well! Thank you, Jim & Paula, for the anniversary treat! Thank goodness, we had to walk back and were able to exercise after that meal. As we did the evening before, we set up our table on the balcony and prepared to play some "Hand and Foot". We couldn't get over how light it was, even at 9:30 P.M. By the time we finished our card game, by candlelight, we were all in sweatshirts or jackets. Unfortunately, the boys had a come-from-behind win in cards! Oh well, we'll get 'em next time. It was late and Paula had a jacuzzi waiting for her, so we said goodnight, sadly knowing we would have to say goodbye to Jim and Paula tomorrow.
